I have just noticed this item in the Guardian technology supplement,
February 7th 2008:
"Crime fears as cheap PCs head for Africa - Initiatives such as the
OLPC and Classmate could mean an explosion in botnets in the
developing world, warn security experts." by Pete Warren:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/feb/07/olpc.security?gusrc=rss&feed=technology
The article is illustrated with a photograph of a classroom of
African kids with OLPC XOs - the potential criminals, perhaps.
The original report emanates from the Finnish computer security firm
F-secure. Is this a genuine concern, or a cheap marketing ploy?
